The history of Rohingya community in Burma goes back to 8th century as they claim to be original settlers of Rakhine (Arakan) province the country while tracing their ancestry to Arab traders. Bengali Muslims from neighboring Bengal started arriving in Rakhine after King Narameikhla (1430–1434) retained his throne with the help of Sultan of Bengal of that time. By the UNO and international laws every Rohingya is entitled to Burmese Citizenship. When the Chinese and Indians who went to Burma on employment and business in the 1940s and 1950s have been given citizenship why not the Rokihgyas who have been living in Burma for many generations Why do we not consider the generosity and tolerance of a Muslim nation like Malaysia or a Buddhist nation like Thailand. Take the example of Malaysia which was given independence by Britain in 1957 when it had 40% of its people as immigrants CHINESE and Indians mostly ......

He confidently reply its not a foul but only reckless play.... Where did you get ur referee certificate??? Read the history of how the thousands of British and Indian troops were trapped in Afghanistan and were slaughtered in 18th century. Was it right or wrong is entirely a different story. Not every adherent of religion is God-conscious as my brother David No Americans or Muslims want these killings to be done in present day Afghanistan or Muslim lands in the Middle East due to the mad behaviour of a pornographic film on Muhammad the prophet or one of the Christian priests claiming his RIGHT to insult and burn the Quran. Would any of us say that this sort of freedom protecting a crazy individual producing a filthy film or burning the Quran under the pretext of freedom of expression is more important even if say some 20,000 American troops are going to be butchered by the Afghan tribes. And of course some 50,000 Afghans may die of bomb aerial ......

How to sell Brunei Gold Coin? I need help from Brudirect readers to sell my coin. Any names and contact details of dealers of Brunei coins in Brunei/Singapre/Malaysia? Brunei Govt issued Gold and Silver coins commemorating the Coronation of His Majesty, I think in 1979. Each Gold coin was sold for B$1,600 by Brunei Treasury in 1979 I bought one and am still keeping it and I am unable to find good buyers. If I sell it, even as raw gold (NOT AS A RARE MODERN COIN) may be, I can get B$3,500 I stand to be corrected. Readers can make their own calculations. Ask in a jeweller's shop in BSB, the price of one gram of gold and multiply it by 50. Brunei coin weighs 50 grams of fine 999 gold. Minted by Scotland Royal Mint, weighing 50 grams of fine gold Occasion. : Tenth Anniversary of Coronation of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Limited ......

Firsly, I am ever grateful to His Majesty for granting the "Elaun Sara Hidup' for his citizens to enjoy during this festive season. May Allah repay HM for his kind consideration. However, it has to be said that some have been unfortunate for not having received the allowance as promised. There is quite a percentage of the citizens who have been affected. Mainly those whose allowance or salary have been overpaid while undergoing service training. May I also stress that this is overpaid allowance/salary and not cosnidered as 'hutang'. While making the initiative to call the relevant officials who deals with the release of this 'elaun sara hidup' we were quite frequently referred to the Surat Keliling which dealt with the 'elaun sara hidup', especially at Paragraph 3. We are all very much aware that before the allowance can be released all 'hutang yang tertunggak' must be deducted. Although what we are shocked to find out about is that our overpaid salary/allowance (which I have to say was 0% not our fault), is also categorised as 'hutang' as stated in Para 3 of the said surat keliling. Please note, we did not want or agree to borrow money from the government as is the procedure with cars or housing debts. Further, that para stresses that cars and housing debts which has a 'fixed schedule' which has been agreed by the government is exempted from these deductions. Funnily enough we also have a fixed schedule and deductions have been made from our monthly salary and bonuses. Just because the title 'elaun terlebih bayar' is not typed into the surat keliling that it is justified that it is not inclusive? Fair enough, electricity and phone bills are deducted as expected, but it is very shocking to see that we have zero left from ......

We are about to complete the 28th day of fasting today (17th August 2012), may be 29th in some countries. I wish all Bruneians a very happy and Blessed Eidl Fitr, Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir dan Batin. May Allah accept your good deeds, forgive your transgressions and ease the sufferings of all people in Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir, Palestine and around the globe. Islam seems to have replaced communism as the common enemy of the West and hence the so called clash of civilization of Huntington, seems to be on course. The Umma is going through one of the severest and deepest crisis in its 1433 years of history due to disunity and weak Iman. Let us hold fast to the rope of Allah swt and cherish the Quran and the Sunnah of Rasulullah-saws. We have to forget and forgive the shortcomings of our brothers and sisters try to achieve ......

I don't know about you but I for one am wondering why in this day and age where internet speeds are measured not in single digits but 10's or 100's of Mbps. Brunei's internet speed has not changed much in years, and is lagging behind the rest of the world significantly. To try and get some answers from DST and TelBru I have created a petition: http://goo.gl/2pOqx If you want to know why they are failing to deliver the service that you are paying for, and want a better service from these companies. Please sign the petition and share it with everyone that you know. Once I get a reasonable number of signatures, I will present the petition to DST and Telbru and try and get some straight answers from them as to why their service is so far below the international average. ...

I will share with you my experience up to date. I called regarding a similar incident which was reported on 17th July. I had called 121 to complain about my e-speed line and also my modem which needed replacing. I was told by the operator that it was a weekend and tech support would not be available until the weekday and they gave me a ticket number and asked me to wait until someone comes over. 2 Weeks later still no one i went to Telbru Headquarters together with my modem as i knew it needed replacing and purchased a new one. They gave me a brand new 'TP-LINK' adsl2/router a different one from the previous hwa wei router i had before. I came home to test out the modem and kept getting intermittent connections meaning every few minutes or so i would be getting no internet at all. So i came ......

Putting eligible oversea scholarship candidates to local institution that does not offer the course that they applied for is unfair. Moreover, placing them in random courses that has nothing to do with their interest in the local institution is like forcing an ostrich to fly. Many of us overseas scholarship candidates have a good course that will benefit the country in many aspects but still the ministry replied that the courses have no market in Brunei. Hearing that was such a pathetic answer, some of us are taking degree courses that will help Brunei plan and design new renewable energy sources and still they did not accept it, why? Whos going to plan all of this when there is no one qualified to do this? Foreigners? Is it because you do not have any trust to your own local students? You are tieing us down and blocking our potential to grow ......

Hi, I just want to know, "WHY" we P.R. (permanent resident) cannot apply for the housing scheme? We P.R. some also don't own a house and need to be rental. And the rental is cost a lot, the cheaper at least also need to cost $600 and above not include utilities a month. If we P.R. have family like 2 - 4 childrens, we P.R. need to pay for the childrens school fees, rental house, utilities bills, etc a month and with a low income a month. If we P.R. also can apply for the housing scheme and use the rental to pay for the housing scheme will save a lot of rental for us P.R. to pay for others things and at last we have a house to stay on not to afraid to find/look for a rental house every times if the landlord say want to take back the rental ......

Will the scientists find God by their new discovery called God Particle? An IMPOSSIBILITY The Creator and the phenomenal world are two phases of the same Reality Transcendence and immanence are two aspects of God God exists within the universe embracing the whole universe in Himself. What actually takes the form of existence is the reflection of the knowledge of God Example : A reflection may be seen in the mirror clearly. Yet it can not be claimed that the object reflected in the mirror has actually assumed the existence in the mirror The object is merely reflected in the mirror and nothing more. This what Muslims believe about Jesus for example Jesus was a Creation of God, an reflection but not the God in flesh. The Essence of God and Existence are identical (but not equal ) The Essence comprehends the created things. The universe has a soul ......

Oil producing countries such as Saudi Arabia must seriously consider making use of their vast oil revenues in poorer Muslim countries (rather than in small fixed rate income investment in the U.S. ) in developing their infrastructure and industrialisation. One Example: In Saudi Arabia we find the Ihram cloth imported from China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and a few other countries. There are very many Muslim countries fully capable of manufacturing any quantity of white cloth for this purpose( Ihram). When that is the case why allow import of Ihram cloth from Non-Muslim countries. This bewilders me immensely. Organizations like OIC should seriously discuss this issue and try to change the attitudes of oil producing Muslim Governments. The same thing about the import into Saudi Arabia, of other prayer materials like caps, turban cloth, prayer mats dumped into Saudi Arabia, from China and Taiwan. Is it impossible for Muslim countries to manufacture ......

A few points on Islamic point of view on free will and good and evil acts 1. God created man with certain powers which he could exercise under certain limitations. It is the exercise of these powers in one way or another that produce good or evil. For example power of speech, man can use this power to do good or bad to humanity using this power, to utter a truth or slander. 2. According to the holy Quran, God is the first and ultimate cause of all things. But this does not mean that He is the creator of the deeds of man. God is the creator of man. God has endowed man with discretion to choose how to act, which he can exercise under certain limitations and only in accordance with certain laws. Thus the holy Quran says, “The truth is from your Lord: So let him who pleases accept ......

Muslim Women in Sports? The situation varies from country to country, from rural to urban areas, and depends on impact of Islamic resurgence, secularism, nationalism, Westernization and socialism. In Malaysia and Brunei for instance Muslim women do take part in sports. Physical education is officially compulsory in schools in Muslim countries including S. Arabia. but, partly due to traditional attitudes and lack of facilities for segregation of the sexes ( for instance even in Pakistan for instance out of the number of public swimming pools, how many are exclusively for women only( not even 5%) often neglected in practice Do we have separate swimming pools for women in Brunei? Why not?. Islam does not allow men and women in the same public pool in swimming suits. If at all, women are prepared for teaching of rather than for active participation in sport. The original teachings of Islam, actually favouring physical and spiritual ......
