The H1N1 case might likely to increase after school reopens The MOE & MOH should produce a monitoring regime once the schools reopen and the trend should indicate the number or percentage of increase from students. Continue closing the school is a very short term measure and should have a contingency plan ready in place to deal with in case this happen. Younger students are very innocent and all safety measures against H1N1 can only be effective if under guidance of adult, either the teachers or parents. Lastly the public should also provide ideas if not closing the school, what could be done if the students H1N1 trend increases. These ideas might be useful to MOE & MOH in develop a good solution. Let's all pray and hope for the best for all the people staying in Brunei, the old, the young, the rich and every one be safe and sound. ...

I am one of those who wanted school to start as I was worried about my daughter's studies. She is in Form 5, you see. Now, I'm not sure if school reopening was a good idea after all. Yes, taking temperature is a good way to begin school. Let me narrate what happened in my daughter's school. Before sending her to school, my wife checked her temperature with a thermometer [ear] we had purchased from JPMC. It was 35.8. We were satisfied and off she went to school. The teachers at school checked her temperature. let me explain how it was taken. The teacher was busy talking to another teacher and did check but let me tell you, just passed off almost every student. I was in my car in the school car park waiting in the line to drop my child so I saw it with my own eyes. Then came along my daughter's classmate, whom I shall refer to as Ms. A. Was her temperature normal? Don't know but she did have a sticker on which means she had passed the test. Around 9a.m. Ms. A put her head down on the table. She had cough and had sneezed a few times. The teacher in the class asked her if she was fine to which she said no, she had a headache. The teacher asked her if she wanted to go back home and she said no because she had already eaten a Panadol before coming to school. The teacher went on with the lesson. My daughter and all the other classmates were already panicking but could do nothing about Ms. A. During break time, the class monitor went and reported to the Form Teacher who was more interested in eating her burger than attending to the sick ......

Good day, everyone. I'm just about to brief you on why and how important it is for schools to remain closed for, say for another week.  1. There is a fatality. The person involved is a school-going child. What if this child had come to school - wouldn't there be a chance of around 1700+ students in her school being infected? Wouldn't the number of cases [and deaths] be more? 2. Brunei is a small country. Look at the number of cases. Frankly, don't you think the rate is far too MUCH for a small country with the small population? Refer to the WHO website for more information on the no. of reported cases in other countries. 3. Temperature taking at schools is not going to help much. There are too many students [and too few thermometers] all arriving at the same time so it is impossible for teachers, irrespective of how many ......

This is for the info of all those at MOH who think they can make teachers switch roles to ambulance drivers. This is the united voice of every single teacher in all the schools here. We were informed by our heads that in the event of a student having high fever and if the parent is unreachable, we are to bring the student to the hospital. Wait a minute. I personally have followed every single step suggested by MOH including the no unnecessary travel out of Brunei. I have sacrificed what would have been a badly-needed holiday to keep safe. Now, don't expect me to put myself at risk by taking an infected student to the hospital just because there are not enough ambulances. Not enough ambulances is clear proof of the MOH's lack of preparedness. We do not have the Jupiter suit to keep infection away. My car is used ......

TDAY READ IN BB, SOMEONE HAD WRITTEN ABOUT ASKING THOSE PUPILS WHO WENT ABROAD TO STAY AT HOME FOR A WEEK.GREAT IDEA BUT DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO BE HONEST AND ADMIT THEY WENT OUT WHILE THEIR FRIENDS CARRY OUT NORMAL STUDYING IN SCHOOL? NO WAY. GIVING OUT MASKS GOING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM? COME ON! FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - GIVE OUT MASKS, TAKE PUPILS' TEMPERATURE, CALL RTB. ENOUGH PUBLICITY STUNT? ALL BIG SHOW, WASTE OF TIME. IN THE END - NO TEACHING, NO LEARNING. WHAT ABOUT PUPILS? GOING TO WEAR MASKS ALL THE TIME? WHAT ABOUT NASI LEMAK OR MERTABAK TIME? EAT WITH MASK ON? WHAT SOMEONE HAD WRITTEN SEEMS RIGHT - CLOSE SCHOOLS FOR A WEEK. MAKE THE PUASA HOLS SHORTER. WHAT WE WANT ARE REAL SOLUTIONS NOT SOMETHING DONE FOR THE SAKE OF LETTING OTHERS KNOW THAT SOMETHING WAS DONE. WAKE UP. BE PRACTICAL. ......

SWINE FLU - close schools Frightening bah - selesma babi ani. what to do? Better close down schools for another 2 weeks. People go overseas come back with the flu spread it everywhere. yg suffer siapa? Old people and young babies. this would not have happened if it wasn't school holiday time. C how nicely we didn't have this babi stuff all this while when there were no holidays. i was expecting this to happen. what we can do is close the schools for 2 weeks n then shorten the 3 rd term break. if not, we can't even have a peaceful puasa n raya with all the babi flu cases. we hope if the students have break teachers also, because they also went abroad and will spread the germs. Surely, if close schools, it will not spread.Good idea, MOH? I WANT TO HAVE A BABI FLU- FREE PUASA. ...
